Alcumus SafeContractor

Frontline Automation has been a Alcumus SafeContractor for many years and is an accredited contractor for its industry.

Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading, and possibly one of the most widely recognised, accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors.

Applying for and achieving the accreditation takes time, effort and most of all consistency, so the fact that Frontline have managed to hold the accreditation and have flown through the last 2 renewal assessments is something they're incredibly proud of.

Frontline Automation have been in business since 1995, and so far 2013 has gotten off to a great start, with a number of new contracts coming through already and many more in the pipeline. Specialising in both the residential and commercial sector, some of the larger clients that Frontline Automation are already working with this year include Southern Water, BT, Bunn Leisure, Sofitel Hotels and Britaniacrest Recycling. These high profile clients don't stop the company from having numerous residential customers placing new orders, and already this month there are new orders in place for decorative gates.

A Frontline Automation spokesperson said: Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation has always helped us in the bid to win new contracts, and many of our customers insist upon an SSIP scheme, and some actually specifiy Alcumus SafeContractor in particular. Whenever any of our accreditations come up for renewal, we have to consider whether they really truly assist us as a company, but when it comes to this one, there is no conversation, no question - It has to be renewed.'

Alcumus SafeContractor as a scheme is applicable to most construction sectors, although it is particuarly relevant to food manufacture, property, facilities management, retail and leisure centres.

John Kinge, technical director of safe contractor, said; 'Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place. More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Frontline Automation has done. The firm's high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. Alcumus SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.'

Under the Alcumus SafeContractor scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a webiste.

Client-organisations who sign up to the scheme can access the database, enabling them to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site. These clients agree that, as users of the scheme, they will engage only with those who have received accreditation.

Over one hundred and seventy thousand major nationwide businesses, from several key sectors, have signed up to use the scheme when selecting contractors for services such as building, cleaning, maintenance, refurbishment or electrical and mechanical work.
